This is so funny! I try to check out stories on snopes first and this one appears as undetermined.

But does it really matter if it is true or not - it's just a great story. Reminds be a bumb we once had with us on the train from the Frankfurt Airport back into town and he told us one wild story to solicit some money out of us. I was pretty sure that the story was just that, a story, but it was so good that I gave him some money anyways. - Too bad that I forgot what the story was.
